5 Ways To Revitalize Fading Hair Color

Thick, glossy, voluminous locks. The kind that inspire hair envy! It’s what we all want, isn’t it? Getting your hair dyed at the salon can most certainly add some oomph to your mane and that seductive shine you’re looking for. But what about when your color starts to fade? Check out our tips for revitalizing your fading hair color and keeping those tresses shiny and lustrous.
5 Ways To Revitalize Fading Hair Color

1. Use Color Safe Products

Shampoos and conditioners designed specifically for color-treated hair are on the market for a reason; they are much more gentle on the hair than regular shampoo, which can strip color-treated hair of its color. Color safe conditioners contain extra moisturizing properties to prevent your hair from drying and frying, since color-treated hair can be more susceptible to damage. Over washing your hair and hard water can also lead to fading hair color, so just remember to be gentle on your chemically-treated locks.

2. Protect Your Strands

Soaking up the sun is a quick way to fade your hair color fast. Chlorine found in swimming pools will strip hair of its color and so will the sun. If you’re planning on being a beach bum, wear a scarf or hat to cover your mane. You can also try hair products with UV protection to help prevent against damage and premature fading. For the pool, remember to rinse both before and after a swim. Wearing a swim cap helps too.

3. Try a Root Touch Up

If you’re in between hair appointments and your hair is already starting to fade, try an at-home root touch up. There are many at-home products including touch-up pens and other treatments that can extend the life of your color until your next appointment.

4. Deep Condition

To keep colored hair from looking dull and dry, use a deep conditioner at least once a week. Look for one that’s specifically for color-treated hair to help inject moisture and shine into your locks.

5. Take Your Vitamins

Although vitamins may not immediately boost the life of your hair color, healthy hair does lead to beautiful, shiny locks. Vitamin E and Biotin are just a few of the most common supplements for hair and nail health. Of course, ask your doctor before adding any supplements to your diet.
